Pros & Cons of Venice!

So my time in Ljubljana and Slovenia has come to an end and with sorrow and joy I’m leaving this wonderful country. But Venice shouldn’t be so awful right? but it will take a lot to beat Slovenia in my opinion. To get from Ljubljana to Venice is very easy and cheap if you travel by bus. 3.30hrs and will cost you around 10-15€.

It’s no secret that Venice is the most romantic place on earth and it’s every couples dream to go there and enjoy themselves. But you can have different views on that. Here i will give you some Pros and Cons about Venice.

Pros.

  • For starters, it is a very romantic place. early mornings and late nights when the mass – tourism is sleeping, you will see Venice for what it is.
  • ” Dinner with a view “. Wherever you wanna eat or just relax with some wine, I think the taste gets better with a view. Like an old chef said: You eat with your eyes. Pizza and pasta is absolute incredible in Venice. The wine isn’t to bad either ;-).
  • How to get around is not by car, it’s by boat. There is not a single car on the streets of Venice. You can take day-trips to Lido for an example with a boat and see Venice from a Boat view.
  • I’ve actually have to mention Lido “Lido di Venezia”. Don’t miss it. Walk the little town. Rent a bike and ride out as far as you can, passing the hotel where they filmed “Death In Venice”. I actually recommend to stay in Lido If you’re going to Venice. Short way / time to Venice, San Marcos place, 15 min. whit the water bus and you’re away from the mass crowd.
  • A visit to Venice can hardly be felt complete without a visit to the beautiful “Piazza San Marco” also known as St. Mark’s square. The square is know as the most beautiful living room in Europe with its stately buildings that surround the square.

Cons.

  • First of all, obviously it’s the mass tourism that kills this beautiful place. With its approximately 60 000 visitors/day during the season the experts says thats double of what Venice can handle.
  • Even that it is beautiful, the prices are extreme over there. I mean everyone wanna try out the gondolas for an example, but for 80€ for 30 minutes is according to me an overprice. Food and drinks are also very expensive. So remember that, if you’re going, bring a big wallet!

Actually i don’t wanna put more cons here because it’s a probably the most romantic place in Europe.  All you need to know is that it’s totally worth it even if it’s expensive and a lot of tourists.

If you’re gonna live in Venice, here’s a very nice and quiet hotel in the centre that i lived in.

Now I’m off to Milano for a few days and after that i’m going to Nameless music festival in a small town called Barzio. Stay Tuned!
